i'm not sure how you do that in grub.  in lilo, what i do after
windows has overwritten the MBR is:

1.  boot from any rescue CD (the mandrake install CDs
     work well, knoppix is fine too, i used to make boot
     floppies but my boxes don't have floppies anymore).

2.  go to a shell prompt in the rescue CD.

3.  become root

4.  mount the root partition as /mnt (e.g., 
    mount -t reiserfs /dev/hda1 /mnt

5.  chroot /mnt, e.g.,
     cd /mnt
     chroot /mnt

6.  restore lilo by running the lilo command
     lilo

i suppose you could do the same with grub (but i'm not
really sure, since i don't really know how grub works).
