i'm using mdk 10.0, so the kernel doesn't use udev, it's
just /dev/sda1 or /dev/sdb1.

i have /dev/sda1 entries in there, but they're noauto since the device
isn't in the slot most of the time. also, i have three usb drives (two
flash, one hard drive) and sometimes i use two of them at a time. so
if the tagging (names assigned when i connect the usb device) of the
usb devices isn't constant, then i don't think i can put static
/etc/fstab entries (the hard drive has multiple partitions but the
flash drives only have one).

with /dev/sd[a-b][0-9], though, i have a problem since it's not
certain what sd[a-b] letter will be chosen for a given device. on some
boxes, it seems to depend on which usb slot i use. on others it seems
to be random (or i haven't been paying enough attention and can't see
what the pattern is, if there is one).
