are they fixed on mysql? or are they willing to consider
switching to postgresql.  mysql is a good database for
small systems but for anything with complex requirements
postgresql is better (mainly because mysql doesn't have
stored procedures yet, it's improving a lot though, they've
got transactions and subselects already, maybe stored
procedures will be available in six months or so).

postgresql also now has a native windows server (just
out in version 8.0).  one reason i've seen people choose
mysql over postgres (even when everything else they did
was on postgres) was that they needed the server
to run in windows and back then, getting postgres to
work under cygwin was considered too much work.

my reply is in public because i wanted to point out the
superiority of postgres for serious work.  no flames are
invited though, there are application niches where
mysql is perfectly appropriate.
