I don't think RH would be able to shut down those derivative distributions for the reason that these outfits use the sources released by RH as they are binded to the GPL. What RH does however, is enforcing the use of the Red Hat trademark and probably some non-GPL apps are exclusive to RHEL if there are such. The last Red Hat version I used was RH8 so I'm kind of out of touch to things RH and Fedora lately. But CentOS is interesting so I might check it out sometime.
