Actually, i tried the earlier Ubuntu and loved it on my desktop kaso medyo restricted ako sa dev. i'll be installing the new release sa isang computer namin sa isang org na member din ako.
may nakakita na ba sa inyo ng tagalog messages sa bagong ubuntu? i'm assuming some of debian-tl's localization work has been included.

I am yet to install Ubuntu as a main desktop. I still have sid as main OS due to its friendlier environment for development. But i have to acknowledge Ubuntu is a great distro for desktops.
If you want to try Ubuntu just for curiosity's sake, then do so. But I personally cannot assure that it is good replacement for Sid, a great environment for developers like you.
My personal advocacy is that, if one uses a distro like Ubuntu, there's a corresponding commitment to spread the good word. I, for one, have been into Ubuntu for four months. Convinced at its simplicity (except the default brown color) and functionality, I have recommended it to my Windows-spoiled friends. I was even able to install it to the computers of several of them.So far, feedback is positive.
In fact, there's already a Philippine website for Ubuntu: http://www.ubuntu-ph.org. You may want to sign on. Our team leader is Jerome Gotangco.
Re the installer, I'm sure other comrades will respond to volunteer their copies.

Dong
