How about gluing heavy duty aluminum foil to corrugated cardboard to make a
reflector behind the device on the far side of the device to bounce signal
to/from the WiFi router?

If not, connecting a directional WiFi antenna aimed at the router to an
omnidirectional antenna right by the Flashair may provide a stronger
signal.
