For years I've told others to have backups.

Any recommended survey articles?
My first recommendation: define the scope of the disaster from which
you want to recover. Lost hard drive? House robbed or burned down?
Your municipality evacuated?
Second: define who should be able to effect the recovery. Just you?
Your heir(s)? An attorney? Your employer or clients?
Once the recovery scope is defined, and the people involved
identified, the technological solutions are far easier to identify.
