I'm working with the developer on this but we could benefit from additional
ideas from experienced C programmers.

I use jpliot, the desktop application for the Palm Pilot PIMs, every day
(and have since the first Palm Personal). It's a mission critical
application for my business as well as for personal information. It has run
on the 32-bit desktop for years and runs on my 64-bit Dell Latitude laptop
but segfaults when I try to invoke it on the new 64-bit desktop.

All hosts run fully patched Slackware-14.2.

On the 64-bit desktop it configures and build without error but won't load.
The developer installed Slackware-14.2 on a vm, built and ran jpilot on that
miachine without any issues. He sent me the executable binary, but that also
segfaults when I try to run it.

What might possibly explain this behavior? Kernel version? Library versions?
I will upgrade the kernel this weekend to 4.4.182 (I think that's the latest
Pat and crew have released) and will see if that makes a difference.

I need jpilot and would benefit from ideas that I can test.

Regards,

Rich
