As I have come to understand, the proper pronunciation of ed(1) is ee dee,
which doesn't lend itself to horse mutation as readily. It comes in handy
on hard copy terminals. In fact, it comes in pretty much essential, as they
render the immortal debate between emacs and vi entirely irrelevant.
