I, too, have an extensive main.cf.

I've always had mapped files for access, cidr, etc. and have it wouldn't
pick up new entries until I updated the respective .db files by running
`postmap` on them.

That's true here, too, except for the cidr files. I run pflogsumm in
/etc/cron.daily and when a message from one of those IP blocks comes in I
never see it in my INBOX (unlike others that escape header_checks and
/body_checks.)

If the *.cidr files were not read because they weren't hashed I'd see more
spam that made it in so I'm assuming they work un-postmap'd.
