Folks,
I bought one of those wide monitors at Costco the other day, I
wanted more space on a given screen, but there appear to be
two issues, when I start up the machine or log into it I will get
window with a long list of resolutions and something to the
effect that that screen resolution was not found. But if I do
an Xrandr I get the following:

The other problem is if the machine has blanked out the
monitor or has locked the screen, if you do the usual stuff
(move mouse, hit key, etc..) it will not wake up, the fix is
to power cycle it.

I think if I fix the first problem the 2nd one will go away with
it. I replaced an older (bought while living in Kalama, WA)
Samsung 1920x1080 monitor which worked perfectly, it was
just getting old (dim and replacing those ittybitty fluorescent
tubes ain't fun anymore).

It appears that the system is seeing the monitor in the correct
resolution according to Xrandr, but why do I get those screens
saying it cannot find the correct resolution.

What is irritating is as soon as you move anything on the machine
the screen disappears. I have looked in the logs to see if I can
find the data there but no joy...

I may have to use a camera to capture that screen.
