For some weeks I've been experiencing "slowness" with my Xubuntu box and
with my Linux Mint box. I know I can run top to see what programs are
using resources, but I don't really understand how to make use of that,
since there are programs I don't recognize.
Also, while typing this (on my Linux Mint box) all the entries for open
windows disappeared from the panel, and I have two error message boxes.
One says:
"Show Desktop" has quit unexpectedly.
If you reload a panel object, it will automatically be added back to the
panel.
And the other one says:
"Window List" has quit unexpectedly
If you reload a panel object, it will automatically be added back to the
panel.
Each error message has three buttons:
[Delete] [Don't Reload] [Reload]
Clicking [Reload] on the second box restored the entries on the panel.
Clicking [Reload] on the first box didn't appear to do anything.
What does all that mean?
Meanwhile, top says I have a zombie. What do I do about that?

Sigh. Monday morning rant.
