Are you using a package from your Linux distribution or did you directly download Firefox from Mozilla. I decided last year sometime that the distribution updates of Firefox were not keeping up quickly enough so I just installed directly from Mozilla. It works fine. I can't tell from the Xfinity junk whether they are checking for browser versions or operating system but if you just need to update Firefox here is the link https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browsers/ and instructions for installing it on Ubuntu https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FirefoxNewVersion/MozillaBuilds Bill
