Nope. But I fixed it. I had mis-typed the vgname and wanted to change that. A web search showed me vgrename and I used that successfully on the unmounted /mnt/hd/. Remounted /mnt/hd/ and the original directories are there and I was able -- as a user -- to add a new directory. Rich
