My email client is mutt and my mail handler is postfix. I need a better spam filter process.
I use (and retrain) spamassassin, and have done so for many years; my accumulated spam folder has about a million entries. sa-learn retraining currently takes about a day of computation, so I only do it once a week. I still need to hunt through the detected spams for misdiagnosed "ham", or sa will train on that, and reject that as well. It's happened. I don't want to send my email "out to the cleaners" (aka google) if it is harvested for market research purposes. Is there a modern spam filter that uses externally-generated up-to-the-minute spam detection files from a service? I wouldn't mind paying a few hundred dollars per year if that external service was very very good. I also wouldn't mind participating in a "spam fight club" where vetted members world wide collect up-to-the minute spam samples and network-autowarn the rest of us. "global-sa-learn"?
