I now accept that Brave 1) doesn't appear when I startx, 2) complains it
wasn't properly shut down, yet 3) asks me if I want to restore the open tabs
when I manually invoke it.

But if Brave can't handle being closed when you log out of the desktop
then maybe it has bigger problems. I don't have that problem with Falkon
or any other browser.

I've used firefox for more than two decades as my default. While I've used
others (e.g., Opera and Chromium) on occasion their presence on a v.d. is
ephemeral. So I'll just open Brave and click the restore tabs button when I
first log in.
