I prefer to my own filtering/sorting. That way, if there is a problem, there is only one person responsible ;)
Proton mail looks good but their downside is their free offering is webbased only. Why not just put up your own email server?
I don't have the expertise to do it well/correctly. That is explicitly part of what I'm willing to pay for.
