Did you find this? https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=776995 It suggests a fix using pactl.Tomas has wisely suggested in the past that virtually all problems can be solved with some combination of Sugru and pavucontrol. Those words echo in my ears.
