If you don't need the output in your script at all then maybe it would work just sending it without tee...
I don't need the output within the script, just printing out in the terminal so I can see the progress.
I see how I can echo things out with echo, but don't understand how to use that in conjunction with rsync's --progress and --stats.
How can I get those to the standard output?
