Actually I have the exact same problem. If you'll look in your mail
log, you'll notice that AOL is summarily rejecting emails from your
domain because something doesn't look right to AOL for instance your
IP addy is not an exact match to your mail domain. In my case my IP
addy maps to my host and not to my domain when a reverse lookup is
attempted so they summarily reject all emails from my domain.

I solved the issue by telling AOL users when they attempt to register
using an @AOL.com email that there are plenty of better email domains
out there that don't block with such and idiot system. Then I reffer
them to those. I also have a few nicely placed text ads for NetZero
and another low cost ISP, you know just in case. Other than that if
they still try to register with an @aol.com email I notify them that
we don't accept aol.com as a valid email address because they don't
accept us as a valid email address, and they HAVE to register using
something, anything else.

Since implementing this I have had a 15% drop in new subscribers, but
those subscribers wouldn't have been able to deal with us anyways
since their email domain blocks emails from us summarily. So it's
actually a savings in terms of customer service headaches from "WHY
THE HELL HAVEN'T YOU EMAILED ME BACK YET!!!"

Try visiting the site of the spam list. I am sure AOL has some FAQ's for
people. Then again, it is AOL.
