It says...
bash: /proc/config.gz: No such file or directory

And yes I used sudo in front of that command

It's definitely in 2.6, although Ubuntu may have chosen not to build it.
 What does the following command tell you?

gunzip -c < /proc/config.gz | grep CONFIG_USB_SERIAL
