The problem with terrorists is that they know this already. You fall
back to terrorist tactics when other avenues seem hopeless, and your
only hope is to do enough damage to make a difference before they get
you.
Killing bin Laden is not really a victory in the "war on terror" so
much as it is a necessary closure for the collective psyche of the
USA. It is probably too much to hope for that this will represent a
point where we can turn towards healing the animosity between Islam
and the West rather than making it grow further, but that is what I
would like to hope for, foolish as it probably is.
