God reduced Gideon army to 300 fighting men. God did this because He wanted the Israelites to know it was God not man who won the battle. I'm not going to presume to assert that I know everything that happened at Benghazi - but I can tell you that there was probably a breakdown in communications, and that there weren't any refueling tankers at Aviano to support a C-130 mission - and even if there was, I have serious doubts C-130 air support would do anything but more harm in an attack like Benghazi.
