Not all things are the same--I know we I Ubiquity, but specifically Ubiquity AmplifiHD which is an all-in-one solution that doesn't require you install any software.  You purchased the corporate level gear (which isn't really for homes), but it sounds like only one piece of the whole, and not the entire set of things that are pre-integrated.

The UAP stuff is for offices, and the package includes a switch, firewall, their cloud key (which is the controller on a micro device you plug into the switch), and THEN the UAP.  If you get all their gear, it is pre-integrated.  But, being an opensource-friendly company, they also give you the option of self-install, if you so choose.  I just don't recommend it when you can buy the pre-integrated bits.

For home, the AmplifiHD is where its at.  It's an all-in-one pre-integrated device, and when you add everything up is cheaper than the above.

If you don't want the full mesh setup @$350, you can buy each of the parts individually.  The turn-key core WAP/Router is only $137:

You just plug it in and turn it on, everything is onboard.  If you so choose in the future you can buy mesh edge WAPs and you simply plug them into an outlet and they sync up -- although you need to acknowledge them on the admin console before they'll join the mesh.
