I googled the error message and it came back with this. Using AlienBBC on the Mac OS X, you may encounter an mplayer error which says something along the lines of -aofile deprecated: use -ao pcm:file=<filename>.
It's not obvious from the documentation, but you should edit the slimserver-convert.conf file, comment out the mplayer PRE6 lines, and uncomment the mplayer PRE7 lines. I put this up mostly for searchers later: best of luck! I'm relaxing listening to BBC 4 as we speak. I changed the convert.conf file and everything works now.
