If you still have playlists then I expect it'll do the same thing and duplicate the artists that are mentioned on that playlist. I think browsing folders ends up doing the same thing - trying to find if the artist is already in the database and creating it if not. For whatever reason it thinks the artist is not in the database and adds it. I believe it must be because it's matching on the "NAMESEARCH" column which I have modified to contain my lazy search version of the name, but I'm looking to find proof of that first.
