I think the problem might be that all events/notifications are not sent to both the master and slave unit. Since I haven't setup a master/slave configuration myself it would help if you could enable TrackStat debugging and also enable the d_command debug flag in slimserver. I would like to see the logs when you start playing a song and try to rate it on the slave unit where rating doesn't work.
