No a restart of the machine does not install the plugin. Now I've tried
several plugin's but since LMS cannot reboot they alle cannot be
installed. LMS worked perfectly fine on the same machine  before, it
(netgear nas r102) might be a problem with the firmware and LMS. Maybe
this is not right place to ask questions. It might be the Netgear
firmare that's causing the problems, it might be LMS.

Did you ever fully uninstall LMS since you updated the firmware? There's some version conflict in one file which might have been required by the Perl version included in the previous firmware, but not in the current one.
