Yes, unfortunately it is as I suspected - still no Pioneer streamer that
supports gapless under standard UPnP/DLNA, only proprietary gapless
support within the device's firmware (so the device owns the playlist &
it therefore gathers the files from UPnP server under its own command)

The foo_out_upnp plugin's built-in UPnP controller (which is not visible
to the user, unlike the foo_upnp one), does precisely what Philippe
suggested some controllers do to implement gapless: it uses the
foobar2000 itself to gaplessly play the files and then get the Pioneer
to stream foobar2000's output as a single 'track' / continuous lpcm
stream (can be configured to be either contained in a wav file or raw
lpcm).
