ah, ha. that's the trick! you can scroll up and down from the remote (once the 1 min option is highlighted) to select whatever sleep duration you want.
reason: one evening you might want to listen to a radio show for 30 mins before going to sleep, another day you might want to turn off everything quickly before leaving the house.
