FYI, I've just arrived at the same setup as a means of relaying bluetooth to a waterproof speaker in the bathroom (my daughter gave it to me so I feel duty bound to use it!). My efforts with SqueezeLite on a Raspberry Pi 3 were hampered by poor bluetooth capability, whereas an android mobile (in my case Alcatel Pixi 3 4" - Android 4.4) innately handles wifi and bluetooth, and works well as an SB device using the Squeezebox Player app. I've synced it via LMS to my SB Radio in the bedroom and there is a slight sync mismatch, I'm guessing due to the additional bluetooth delay to the speaker. It's cheap and it just works!
