I find that with MPlayer all you need is a command line like MPLAYER bbcurl -CACHE 128 -AO PCM:WAVEHEADER:FILE=filename.wav
The capitals are fixed entries and can be typed in lower case. The bbcurl and output filename you supply yourself. You can then edit any rubbish from the WAV file and save in your favourite format.
