This is my understanding of the situation * mplayer uses RTSP over TCP transport to get RealAudio. * RealPlayer can use RTSP TCP, RTSP UDP and also HTTP as transport - it chooses automatically which protocol to use.
The router seems to be blocking RTSP or perhaps just RTSP on port 554. Another explanation is that Quicktime also uses a slightly different RTSP on port 554 and it is getting confused between the two variants. Either way I think RealPlayer stops using RTSP to play RealAudio. Mplayer only support RTSP - the products using the Reciva chips also have this problem and I think that might put pressure on apple. This might be deliberate or accidental but I can't be sure what is happening without a Mac and an Airport Extreme as the online documentation is very poor. I'll keep looking but at least the problem is now understood which in turn means solutions can be devised. -- bpa ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34847 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
