I subscribed to Plus at £0.99/month and am back in business! Listening to a podcast as I write. Still using version 0.4 which I installed earlier but will try version 0.2 again in the next day or two as it seems to have been a change on the Pocket Casts end which caused the problem. Many thanks @AxxelH for the plugin and for taking the time to look into this issue.
