SLX supports a multiple sound card scenario. In settings next to the player name is a button that opens the multi-room tab. There you can define additional players that would be connected to extra sound cards, presumably sending music to another room. So, you could add sound cards to drive other zones. I don't recall any discussion using surround channels on the same card, though.
