The reason is that it complicates things since I would be required to implement SlimProto instead of just using the CLI interface which is a lot slimplier. I'm also not interested in using this myself, since I feel that my SqueezeBox will result in better audio output than the MythTV machine.
However, I haven't looked at SlimProto at all so it might be easier than I think. There is something called squeezeslave available that might be possible to reuse in some way, I think it contains some sort of C wrapper library around SlimProto.
