In order to control Bluetooth headphones on Android you need a player (I use either SBplayer or Squeeze Player), and then a controller such as SqueezeCtrl or Orange Squeeze. The latter enable the Bluetooth control. Then, if you prefer, fire up Material to control everything and leave SqueezeCtrl/Orange Squeeze running in the background. It sounds a bit of a palava but works ok!
