How about a smooth scroll for the lyrics?
Logic would be ... if playing track has a duration/progress then use the %complete to scroll to the same point in the lyrics (middle of the screen) with user intervention cancelling the scrolling (because the user can see that the scroll was wrong or wants to see the opening again etc).
