Is there a "+1" problem when scanning the library?
Possible. Though I probably wouldn't call it a "problem". It's just that I'm not too obsessed about those numbers... some of these numbers indeed report more than just the files or artists or whatever, but rather the number of "steps" a scan has to do. Eg. the online music import reports the number of playlists PLUS the number of tracks in those playlists or similar. It's confusing for the user who compares numbers. But I prefer to have an evenly moving progress bar, rather than one which does 99% of the progress in 10% of the time, then lets the user wait "forever" to complete. If it was for me I'd probably get rid of the absolute numbers and only have a progress bar instead.
So yes, that number might be off by some. Don't pay too much attention to it.
