pCP is booting before the kernel sees your USB stick.  You need to
increase the value of waitusb that is on the command line    (on the
boot partition  cmdline.txt)

When booting from USB, you need to tell the kernel to wait for a bit for
USB devices to get recognized.  I've seen some devices take 5 or 6
seconds to get recognized.
