My current video player is a 2019 Nvidia Shield, but prior to that I used LibreELEC on a pi 1 model B Rev2. This was an amazing, highly optimized player for its time. It supported raw blu-ray rips and was able to decode TrueHD and DTS-HD audio to PCM. The only thing it was missing in that generation of media was Dolby Atmos. If you don't have 4K media files it would probably work just fine. I don't know if the current generation of Pis is better at 4K playback.
