Thanks, I've done that and now have mplayer installed. I ran the test and heard the BBC stations OK. I stopped and restarted Squeezecenter.
The problem now is that AlienBBC no longer appears in the list under Internet Radio. When I go to Settings-Plugins, AlienBBC is listed at the top and checked.
