Check under Setting/Plugins - that there is an entry for WaveInput. This is where you may see the "incompatible" message.
You can edit install.xml with Notepad as this is a Windows only Plugin. To edit install.xml - open the Plugins/WaveInput directory and right click install.xml and choose "edit" option.
