I've been using PowerSave for over a year now and it's worked very well for me. In conjunction with peterw's PowerCenter plugin, this combo reliably turns off my big power amps (via an X10 appliance module) when my transporter has been idle for 15 minutes or more.
Staring at my monitor in a stupor, reading some hysterical left-leaning political blog or another, and then hearing the amps click off after I've failed to notice that my playlist ran out long ago makes me feel very green and virtuous.
