A quick data point. I'm running 7.3 and the correct iPlayer version. After working fine all of a sudden attempting to play any stream started to give me an error, "playlist contains no data" (or something quite like that).
I've had so many problems with 7.3 (Now Playing screen won't update, wrong song played, Jump Back on Wake doesn't) that I'm now reinstalling SC, so will post back if iPlayer still gives me problems afterwards.
