I am pleased to announce the first proper beta release of the *VLC
Controller 2 Plugin*. It extends SqueezeCenter with the ability to
-remotely control- a 'VLC Media Player' (http://www.videolan.org/vlc).
The Plugin uses the VLC HTTP Interface to communicate with a VLC Media
Player somewhere in the network. While the plugin is active, most
remote control keys are mapped to VLC. The focus of this plugin is on
video playback, audio is -not- streamed through SqueezeCenter!
REQUIREMENTS
The Plugin runs with VLC 0.9.8a and SqueezeCenter 7.3. Obviously, you
have to cable the AV output of the VLC machine to your TV system.
SOME FEATURES
- Title and Playlist Browser
- Playback controls: play, pause, stop, next, previous, forward,
reverse
- Playback modes: shuffle (random), loop, repeat, fullscreen
- Change VLC volume
PLUGIN SETTINGS
*VLC Host:* Specify the machine and the port of the VLC HTTP interface
(default is localhost:8080)
MEDIA FOLDERS:[/B] THE FOLDER(S) WHICH CONTAIN THE FILES YOU WANT TO
PLAY IN VLC. PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE FOLDER ARE RELATIVE TO THE MACHINE
WHERE VLC IS INSTALLED AND NOT TO THE MACHINE RUNNING SQUEEZECENTER!

The HTTP interface is enabled by running VLC with the following command
line ('no-interact' should prevent dialog popups):
vlc.exe --extraintf http --no-interact
