At the moment there isn't any good way to use the rating information scanned with the Rating Tag scanning module unless you check the "Write ratings to slimserver" option in the Rating Tag scanning module settings. If this option is checked the MediaMonkey ratings will overwrite any ratings in SqueezeCenter and this also results in the the standard "Ratings" menu or menu template included with Custom Browse.
If you don't want to do this, you will need to do as you have already done but you will need to select the "Customize configuration" option when creating the menu.
