It's a bug in Extension Downloader: https://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=14657
It seems like for new plugin installations Extension Downloader always picks the plugin from the manually configured repository. I've removed the old *Beta* versions from the testing repository so if you uninstall all my plugins and open up the "Plugins" tab after the restart you shouldn't see any beta versions besides the "MythTV" and "Mail" plugins which still are beta.
