(don't read any further if you're not willing/trying/wanting to run Squeezebox
Server 7.4.1 nightly or later)

Happy to announce that for the adventurous FreeNAS 0.7 user there's now a new
SlimNAS beta to play with. New features include:

- simplified initial installation: if no SBS archive is available in the
install folder, SlimNAS will provide a direct link to the latest SBS release

- support auto update download: SBS will automatically download updates when
available (if auto downloading is enabled - see Settings/Advanced/Software
updates in SBS web UI)

- provide links to downlaod pages for Squeezebox Server and SlimNAS updates

- code cleanup: removal of some legacy code should speed up the SlimNAS admin
page

- smaller SlimNAS package

The most important change isn't a new feature, though. As of SlimNAS 1.99.9 (to
be v2.0) you'll need to install the regular tarball instead of the noCPAN
version. Previous versions of SlimNAS came with all the modules required to run
SBS. As we updated dependencies in SBS I had to update SlimNAS every time,
breaking backwards compatibility etc. Eg. bug fixes in 7.4.1 break
compatibility of SlimNAS 1.5 with the latest Squeezebox Server. What a pain!

Thanks to my fine connections to the Squeezebox development team (thanks Andy!)
we're now including those modules required for SlimNAS with the regular tarball
archives. Thus whenever you update SBS you should get the updated modules for
SlimNAS too.

The latest SlimNAS 1.9.99 beta can be downloaded here:

Have fun! And let me know about any trouble you see...
