It's working fine here too on Ubuntu Linux. Just wanted to inform you that in file /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Plugins/SugarCube/Plugin.pm in the lines 1705,1734,1763 you assume that the default database name is slimserver. I'm using a custom sql database and had to change it. Maybe you should use a server parameter instead.
